Princess Monkey Jewellery - Materials
Princess Monkey Jewellery is all hand-made with lots of love. It is also very delicate and should be worn with care. Be sure to keep it in a safe place and don't just throw it into your handbag without it being protected by something.
Over time, the gold can tarnish. It matts out and loses it's shine. This process can be delayed by making sure you don't wear your jewellery in water (no showering/swimming). Avoiding contact with perfumes/deoderants will help maintain your Princess Monkey jewellery in its original condition.
Metal
All the chain is nickel or brass and coated in gold or silver. The stampings are mainly brass and then gold dipped. The hooks used are gold or silver plated. The hooks can be changed to suit your needs - such as allergies to certain metals - by substituting them for either sterling silver, surgical steel, or rolled gold. These come with a $5 extra charge. Please email Beccy via the Contact page - before placing your order - if you require a change of metal.
Stones
The stones are all semi-precious stones and stone chips. Some are maintained in their raw state so you can still see the veins. This has an amazing marbel effect - particularly on the tear-drop shaped cream stones. The stones have been gathered from Byorn Bay, Paris and London.
Enamel
The French-named jewellery has all been made with hand-painted enamel beads, found in a delicious corner of Le Marais, in Paris.
Glass
The glass beads are Czech glass beads. They are very strong but very light weight, so you can wear them all day long!
Buttons
The Buttons are made from fabrics imported from Paris.
Crystals
The crystals are a selection of Swarovski, wood-fired and machine-cut crystals.
Pearls
The pearls are faux pearls and they are fabulous. Watch this space for the new Princess Monkey Fresh Water Pearl pieces.
Wood
The natural coloured (brown) wooden beads used are Australian native raw wood beads. They were made from recycled scrap from the forrest floor. The coloured wood beads are Australian as well. Be sure not to store the coloured wood beads in direct sunlight when you are not wearing them, as the colours will fade. Some of the jewellery on this site has used deliberately sun-faded wood beads, for a vintage effect.
*All earrings are for pierced ears; they can be made into clip-on styles upon request via the Contact Page.
